High throughput sorting is an essential and critical tool in biomedical diagnosis and analysis. We follow two approaches: In hydrodynamic flow fields cells are separated in bulk by viscous lift forces depending on size and mechanical deformability. A complementary technique is based on single cell interrogation. We probe individual fluorescently labelled cells and sort them acoustically at ultra-high throughput (10th of kHz) in multiple channels.
